Pop-Up

An extension of low res to high res but this time going from flat to a more complex three-dimensional structure.

Inspired in part by the idea of a pop-up book, this experiment instead uses distance and the appearance of a a flat structure then reveal itself as something more complex and more rich.

Imagine these data forms exist in the distance. Seemingly flat they do however reveal something about the data due to their undulating nature. On further inspection however the form is not flat but has a physicality to it that can be twisted, turned and explored. When you’re down just simply send it back into the distance where it again becomes flat.

This flat to 3D mechanism might be useful as form to store bookmarks of bits of data - something that is sent off into the distance without distracting you, yet can be called up and then explored when needed.
